About:

Shi is an assistant professor of energy engineering. She began at Penn State in 2019. She holds a B.S. in chemistry from Fudan University in China and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining Penn State, Shi was a postdoctoral researcher in the Material Science and Engineering Department at Stanford University. Shi’s research interests lie broadly at the intersection of surface chemistry, material science and mechanical engineering, with emphasis on integrated energy systems (innovation in conversion, storage, transport, and consumption systems). She is also the Virginia S. and Philip L. Walker Faculty Fellow in Material Science and Engineering.
