About:

Morrison is an associate research professor for the EMS Energy Institute. Morrison holds a B.S. in geology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. in mineral processing from Penn State. Since 1985, he has been working in the energy sciences. His early experience focused on mine overburden characterization, sorbent characterization for fluidized-bed boiler systems, and coal water slurry fuel preparation. For fifteen years, he has managed the Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory’s Gas Storage Technology Consortium and Stripper Well Consortium. Currently, Morrison serves as the director of the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF), which invests in and deploys clean energy technologies (wind, solar, biomass, energy efficiency, and high-performance buildings) in Pennsylvania. WPPSEF also funds education and outreach efforts as well.

Research Interests:

• Biomass characterization and use in thermal applications
• Energy efficiency
• Marginal well production improvement
• Sedimentary geology
• Solar PV/ hot water heating deployment
• Sustainable energy

Memberships & Committees:

• Organized 2004 and 2006 PA Clean Energy Expos
• Organized 2008 and 2009 PA Home Energy Conferences
• Organized 2012 and 2014 PA Biomass Heat & Power Conferences
