About:

Shokouhi is an associate professor of engineering science and mechanics. She began at Penn State in 2014. She holds a B.S. in civil engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from Rutgers University. Her interests lie in stress wave propagation in fractured media, nondestructive evaluation (linear and nonlinear ultrasonic testing), structural health monitoring (acoustic emission), machine learning and data analytics, and seismic metamaterials. Her honors and awards include an American Society for Nondestructive Testing Fellowship Award; an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation; and an Outstanding Performance in Securing External Funding from The University of Texas at El Paso, among others.
